Steal A Seed Mutation Tiers

Weigh glow against size and rarity before you dump a Speed bar.

Mutation Tiers

Mutations are one of three value layers on a Steal A Seed plant. The other two are size and rarity. Players lose steals because they treat a neon purple glow as an automatic jackpot, or they ignore a huge high-tier crop because it is not mutated. This page is a ranking method, not a multiplier table. Rainbow Isle Tycoon has not published official percent sheets, cash-per-second charts, or named mutation Dex entries, so we do not invent them.

If you need the letter grades for a whole garden, return to the tier list hub. If you need the raid-target checklist, open high-tier plants. Mechanic walkthroughs for how size and mutation appear in play live on mutations and sizes.

What a mutation is telling you

A mutation is a visible upgrade on an already-planted seed. On this game’s grass gardens it often reads as a neon purple mutated plant creature — a silhouette you can tag from across the lane. That glow does three jobs at once:

  • It usually means more cash than the same plant without the mutation.
  • It is a broadcast. Other players in the six-person server can see it too.
  • It raises steal risk faster than it raises your comfort.

A mutation does not replace rarity. A mutated starter is still a starter with makeup. A mutation does not replace size. A tiny mutated plant can be worth less than a towering clean one of a higher band. Rank the stack.

How to compare mutation vs size vs rarity

Use this order of questions. Do not skip ahead to glow.

  1. Rarity band first. Is this a starter crop you would outgrow, a solid cash planter, or a high-tier seed? If it is starter-tier, mutation rarely makes it a raid target. Plant it or skip it; do not dump Speed.
  2. Size second. Is this plant large compared with the rest of that garden? Size is the quiet multiplier. Owners forget that a big clean high-tier crop is already A, sometimes S, without a glow.
  3. Mutation third. Does the plant also show the mutated look? If yes and rarity is high and size is large, you are looking at the S-tier stack from the hub: mutated and large high-tier — a raid magnet.
SignalWhat you see in the gardenHow to value it
RarityNot a first-hour crop; owner is hoveringBase worth. Without this, glow is cosmetic.
SizeTaller / bulkier than neighboring plantsQuiet income. Easy to under-rank.
MutationNeon purple creature or other mutated lookLoud income and a beacon for thieves.

The letter on the tier list is the combination, not any single column.

When mutation wins the argument

Pick the mutated plant when all of these are true:

  • The underlying seed is already high-tier, not a leftover starter.
  • You can extract it on your current Speed, or you have a heist partner.
  • The owner’s camera is off the plot, or the plot is open.
  • You have a planter ready at home so the steal is not a trophy you drop.

Mutation wins because it stacks on a seed that was already worth a chase. It does not win because purple is pretty.

When size wins without a glow

Pick the large clean plant when:

  • It is clearly bigger than everything else in that garden.
  • Rarity still looks high-tier.
  • The mutated option in the same garden is small, starter-based, or heavily guarded.
  • You need cash more than you need a screenshot.

Size is the upgrade people skip because it does not shout. In a six-player server, the quiet large plant is often the steal that actually funds your next treadmill session. The glowing one is the steal that three people contest and nobody keeps.

When rarity wins both

Sometimes the best target is not the biggest and not the most mutated. It is the rarest seed the owner left in an awkward planter — edge of the grass, far from the treadmill, easy exit path. Rarity is the layer you cannot fake with a lucky roll later. If you can only carry one magenta seed block out, carry the one you cannot replace by farming.

That is also why high-tier plants talks about carrying a single seed. Greed is how mutations get you killed. You came for one stack. Leave with one stack.

How mutation changes steal risk

Treat mutation as a spotlight:

  • On your plot: it raises income and raises the chance you get raided. Do not AFK next to a neon purple centerpiece. Sit where you can see the lane, or take the seed with you if you must leave the server.
  • On someone else’s plot: it marks the magnet. Assume at least one other player saw it. If two people path toward the same glow, you need Speed or a teammate, not hope.
  • On a starter crop: it is bait. Someone will waste a sprint on it. Let them. You go for the large high-tier in the back row.

Mutation does not change the extract rules. You still need treadmill Speed, a clean grab, and an exit. Glow does not stun the owner.

Scouting without a spreadsheet

Walk the ring once per session:

  1. Ignore names. There is no official Dex to memorize.
  2. Tag every garden as starter-heavy, mixed, or high-tier.
  3. Inside high-tier gardens, mark large plants and mutated plants separately.
  4. Circle the overlap — large and mutated. That overlap is S.
  5. Check your Speed against the owner’s likely Speed. If you lose the race, the mutation is not yours.

Do this before you spend a Speed bar. The tier list hub is the letter. This page is the reason the letter moves when a plant mutates.

What we will not publish

No invented multiplier columns. No fake percent tables. No cash-per-second claims. If Rainbow Isle Tycoon later posts official mutation math, this page will rank with those numbers. Until then, value what you can see: glow is loud, size is quiet, rarity is the floor, and the S-tier steal is the plant that has all three.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Steal A Seed heists, Speed, and codes.

Is a mutated starter crop S tier?

Almost never. Mutation on a starter is still a starter with a beacon on it. Rank rarity first. S is mutated and large *high-tier*, as on the tier list.

Can a large plant beat a mutated one?

Yes. If the large plant is higher rarity and the mutated one is small or starter-based, take the large one. Size is the quiet value layer.

Where are the mutation multipliers?

They are not published here because there is no official public table we trust. Do not use invented percents. Scout visually and read mutations and sizes.

Does mutation make my garden a raid target?

Yes, especially on a large high-tier plant. A neon purple centerpiece is a magnet on a six-player server. Guard it or expect high-tier thieves.

Should I steal the glowing plant or the rare one next to it?

If you can only carry one seed, take the stack you cannot replace: high rarity first, then size, then glow. Overlap of all three is the steal.
